Astoria, Anjuna
The main section of this family-run hotel is a 200-year-old Portuguese colonial mansion. A modern extension features a tiled roof in the traditional Goan architectural style. The twenty well-appointed rooms are comfortable and come with a balcony and a fridge as standard. Room service and prompt laundry services are also available and there are yoga lessons available in the hotel.
There is a pub and restaurant on site specialising in multiple cuisines, with a special emphasis on traditional Goan food including Chicken Cafreal, Goan Fish-Curry-Rice, Samarem, Fish Recheada, Sorpotel, Goan pork sausages, Ham, San’nas and Ale-bele cooked with spices from the hotel garden. The kitchen will be happy to cater to guests’ specific tastes and wishes.
The Astoria is located between Anjuna, which hosts a popular flea market on Wednesdays, and Mapusa, location of a Friday bazaar and Saturday market. Anjuna lies amidst the peace, tranquillity and simplicity of the emerald valley of Assagao in northern Goa nestling in the cool shade of mature mango trees and swaying coconut palms in a naturally terraced landscape. It is a perfect place for guests to unwind in nature, to the song of exotic birds in the lush valley.
