Candolim
A beach-lover’s paradise, Candolim is a calm little haven packed full of beautiful sights, charming restaurants and long stretches of stunning coastline. Not only are there plenty of opportunities for sunbathing and watersports but you can sample fresh seafood at the little beach restaurants that are scattered along the seafront.
If you like to see some sights on your holiday in Candolim, the popular Aguada Fort is perched above the rocky headland. Built in 1612, this majestic building is surrounded by several springs, which were said to be the first source of drinking water available to ships arriving in Goa after the long sea voyages.
Candolim holidays are taken mainly by the beach, which is the resort’s main attraction. Like at Calangute the hippies were the first to holiday in Candolim in the sixties but whereas Calangute is perhaps a little more commercial, Candolim, with no real centre to the village, is a little less spoilt and it retains a sense of spirituality that Calangute has perhaps lost some of.
