Miramar Beach
Miramar Beach – or Gaspar Dias – is situated about 3km from Goa’s principal city, Panaji, adjoining the Mandovi estuary as it empties into the Arabian Sea.
As one of the closest beaches to Panaji, Miramar Beach is one of Goa’s most commercial areas and contains a large number of hotels as well as the exclusive homes of Goa’s rich and famous. The golden beach of soft sand fronted with a thick grove of exotic palm trees is often crowded with tourists and locals alike, particularly on a Sunday night. With its proximity to both Dona Paula Beach and to Panaji, buses, taxis, auto rickshaws and motorbikes are all plentiful for the journey to Miramar.
The area enjoys a wide range of facilities for those who enjoy shopping and sightseeing. The work of the local Konkani fishermen is a popular attraction and also worth a visit are the Dhempe College of Arts and Science and the memorial to Goa’s first chief minister, Dayanad Bandodka. Looking across the river the beach affords a splendid view of Fort Aguada.
