Divar Island

Divar Island is located 10 km from Panaji (Panjim), and is reached by ferry from Old Goa on the south-east side, from Ribandar on the south-west side and from Narve on the north side. A launch connects Divar to the city of Panaji while the Konkan Railway passes through the village of Vanxim not far from the connection point for the Panjim ferry. The nearest station to the village is at Karmali.

The popular Bonderam festival is celebrated on the fourth Saturday of August during the monsoon season is and attended by thousands of tourists and locals. The festival dates back to colonial times and celebrates the fury of the villagers over the Portuguese system of resolving disputes. A carnival atmoshpere is created at the festival with each part of the village having a float at the parade; there is music and gaily-coloured floats are accompanied by colorfully dressed youngsters.

Divar Isand has number of Temples, the most prominent of which is Shri Ganesh Sateri Temple at Sateri Bhat, which also houses Khapro Ravalnath and Sateri Mahamaya. There are two more Temples of Ganesh, one at Navelim and other at Hilltop near the Church.
