Situated in the south of Goa, just 5km south of the busy resort of Benaulim, Varca Beach is a long, isolated stretch of soft white sand. Black lava rocks provide a beautiful backdrop in this idyllic setting.
Calm and tranquil but with plenty of modern facilities Varca has plenty of sundowners, and beach shacks and is an ideal place to just lie and soak up the sun. A number of wooden fishing boats often line the beach, the fishermen making their homes in traditional palm-thatched huts behind the dunes.
Cycles and scooters are available to get around the immediate vicinity and there is adequate transportation to the nearby town of Margao. Dolphin-watching is popular here and there is an early-morning ‘dolphin cruise’ along the River Sal.
